Two young Saudi philanthropists are hoping to lose weight over the next three months to raise money for women empowerment initiatives throughout the Kingdom. Their project coincides with the Women Appreciation Month. Philanthropists and Glowork founders Khalid Al-Khudair and Jamal Al-Mansour intend to lose 30 kg together in order to raise a hefty $135,000. “Workload doesn't help at all as it holds you back from going to the gym regularly; but I believe linking it to a cause will motivate us,” said Al-Khudair. The two founded Glowork with the aim of empowering women in the Saudi workforce. They have already been fairly successful. Glowork has provided over 2,000 jobs for women in 130 companies across the Kingdom. Glowork shall further empower women by including additional agendas such as educating public on working women's rights, organizing women leadership seminars, and supporting small businesses. Glowork also partnered recently with the German program FATIMA, or Female Apprenticeship Training in Modern Arabia, to provide essential vocational and soft skills training for women in Saudi Arabia. “We are delighted to be partnering with a great project like FATIMA. This will added value for women job seekers who currently lack the soft skills required for entering the job market,” said Al-Khudair. __
