A number of retail companies are now offering work-from-home jobs for Saudi women. Fifteen retail companies have announced that they created 500 such job opportunities in two weeks. They are offering a salary of SR4,000. Experts expect that 50 percent of women's labor offices will be cancelled in the next three years. Dr. Salim Bajaja, economic expert at Taif University, said that small- and medium-scale businesses will benefit from this arrangement. He said the step will allow companies to save the large amount of money spent on transportation allowances for female employees. Dr. Bajaja expects 50 percent of retail companies to offer work-from-home jobs for women, thereby creating more job opportunities for female workers. Khaled Al-Khudair, founder of GLOWORK website for women's employment, said that most good job opportunities for women come from call centers and e-marketing companies, Al-Watan newspaper reported Saturday. The salaries offered are very good and suitable for Saudi women, he added. “It doesn't matter where the woman lives. Retail companies look for female candidates all over the Kingdom. The companies that are offering 500 job opportunities, most of which are in call centers, have never employed women before,” Al-Khudair said. These companies will use a monitoring device to link the female employees' computers with those of the company's to ensure the women work for eight hours, he explained. Previous economic studies have shown that work-from-home jobs are good initiatives to allow women in the Gulf to participate in the labor force and contribute to the economy. Studies expect this approach to create two million job opportunities for Saudi women. The Ministry of Labor recently formed a council in charge of employing women in different sectors in the Kingdom.
