Thousands of jobs in the offing for Saudi women
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 17 - 01 - 2012

led project aimed at women empowerment, has signed an agreement with EXA Information Systems to create thousands of jobs for Saudi women at home, a press statement of the Glowork said here Monday.
As per the agreement, women after giving them different trainings, would be hired for jobs such as customer service, sales, research and digital marketing.
Brainchild of Khalid Alkhudair, founder Glowork believes the current labor laws of segregation have been an obstacle for companies to hire women. “Over 80 percent of the companies don't have a female department,” he said. “Companies are happy to hire females but the segregation policies which requires to have separate entrances for them, have been an impediment.”
Describing the agreement as ‘historic', Alkhudair hoped the agreement could see thousands of women pour into the local job markets in the Kingdom.
He said women living in rural areas would also be benefitted by the agreement as also the women with special needs or disabilities. “The system that we have planned will not require the employee and the employer to be in the same town, city or country for that matter,” said he. “The system abolishes the worry that maternity leave could hamper their work as they can continue to work from the home itself.”
He said the system Saudi would set the benchmark through flexibility in the workplace and this could be rolled out worldwide in our current times of finding innovative solutions for creating more jobs.
Sami AlHelwa, CEO EXA said the agreement was not limited to cost saving and creating jobs alone but also allowed companies to produce quality work through high tech performance management system and an interaction framework. “You would feel as if your employee was in the next room.”
Glowork, a website dedicated to women empowerment in the Middle East, has registered over 130 companies advertising over 2000 vacancies for women throughout the Kingdom.
EXA is a top-notch IT Arab Company offering a wide range of services including software development, web hosting, and integrated solutions. EXA serves thousands of customers in Gulf region and North Africa and is considered the first Arab company and the fastest growing in the Arab region.
