Glowork was formed by young Saudi entrepeneurs to bring empowerment to women in the Saudi workforce. Their mission is to help talented females find clear and concise careers across the region and their vision is to be the leading E-portal career gateway for females across the GCC region. “The idea for Glowork came to me in highly unlikely circumstances,” says Glowork founder Mr. Khalid Alkhudair. The idea has now blossomed into a unique career platform for women in Saudi Arabia. He further explains how this venture is personal to him - he was motivated to take such a step when his sister returned from abroad with a PhD and had a difficult time finding a job in the kingdom for over an year. Khalid is currently the Chief Operating Officer for KPMG. He recently picked up the award for ‘Best Head of Marketing' in the Middle East. He also spoke at the World Economic Forum, held recently, representing Saudi Arabia as a young global shaper. “Following this vision was not a breeze,” says Khaled, though he feels you can do anything if you really believe in it. Other members of the Glowork team are Jamal Al Mansour, Deutsche Gulf Finance's Vice president; Khalid Al-Saleh, Head of Human Resources; Muna AbuSulayman, Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Café;the Secretary General of the Al Waleed Bin Talal Foundation; and Joao Santos Almeida,an award winning creative director. Khaled aspires to work full time at Glowork; that's how passionate he is about his vision in which he whole heartedly believes in right from the moment it commenced. Talented women who previously lacked ways of getting in to the workforce have now got a perfect opportunity to showcase their abilities to the world. Glowork conducted a workshop recently on Marketing and Communications. The event witnessed a great turnout for many young, talented Saudi ladies for whom it was both an interesting and rewarding experience. The topics discussed were marketing in Saudi Arabia, branding, public relations, events, communication, corporate social responsibilty, customer relationship management, internal and external marketing and knowledge management. At the end of the workshop, the ladies were given a mini project called ‘Become your own CEO' and were asked to present their ideas and outline their mission, vision, branding, public relations, events and the SWOT analysis of their business. It was surprising and pleasing to observe some very smart women speak with passion about their ideas they deeply believe in. Hopefully, more women will find themselves a glowing career and will chase their dreams and bridge the gender gap in the region. __
