Heavy rains lashed the holy city of Makkah, Wednesday. In Taif and its suburbs, the rains were accompanied by hailstones. Similarly, the governorates of Al-Qura and Al-Aqiq in Al-Baha and several rural areas in the region experienced heavy rains in the evening. Heavy to medium rains fell on Asir region including Dhahran Al-Janoub governorate and a number of rural centers under the region's jurisdiction. Earlier in the day, the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME), said rain was expected in most of the Kingdom on Thursday including Jizan, Asir, Baha, Taif and Madina due to the formation of cumulus clouds over the southern western heights and Jizan heights. The report said the clouds are expected to move to the north-eastern parts of the Kingdom including Hafr Al-Batin and Qassim and Hail. It will be partially cloudy over the central and eastern parts?of the Kingdom and surface winds will kick up dust which will reduce visibility in the north of the Kingdom. Fog and mist is likely to appear early in the morning over the mountainous and coastal cities in the southern parts of the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, the PME report said.
