A seasonal rain front that heavily lashed the central and southwest regions from last week arrived Sunday evening in Jeddah, turning some streets into rivulets and flooding areas where drainage outlets were either clogged, under construction or non-existent. “Expect the moderate rainfall to continue for another night,” Shahar Abu Humaidi, Director of Forecast at the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment, told Saudi Gazette. The official said the rains marked the start of cooler weather, though “not until the rain clouds over the city dissipate.” Rain with thunderstorm is expected over central and eastern regions especially Jizan, Asir, Baha and coastal regions. Cloudy skies is expected on western regions of the Kingdom with chances of rainfall between Makkah and Madina. Visibility will possibly be affected in the southern parts of the Kingdom due to strong southeasterly to easterly winds blowing over most regions. Low pressure zone accompanied by a warm air front as well as a cold front high in the atmospheric strata is forecast for the week. Thundershowers are likely to be preceded by surface winds on the Kingdom's regions beginning with the southwest and south to the heights of Makkah Region. Chances of rainfall over the eastern and central parts of the Kingdom especially Al-Qassim, Riyadh and Hafr Al-Batin regions in the coming days are bright. __
