A security campaign to raise awareness of Asian communities has been launched by the Undersecretary of Makkah Emirate, Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al-Khudairi. During the opening ceremony of the campaign, Dr. Al-Khudairi said that expatriate communities living in Makkah are part of society. A study was conducted in 2008 to survey expats and help them find employment, he said, and pointed out that Emir of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal's development strategy focused on developing men and land. He said, “We seek to enhance the role of these communities and their participation in all activities that benefit society.” He revealed that the “Makkah Without Crime” program has helped reduce the crime rate to nine percent. Dr. Al-Khudairi said that women are important partners of development, which doesn't differentiate between men and women. He added that there are 300 families in Makkah involved in production and manufacturing, and the products of these families will be seen in the market soon. “There are 450 products which were made in Makkah by these families and we're working on finding a special location where they can display their products,” he said. The director of Makkah Police, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzi, said the campaign sets a good example of social partnership. The general supervisor of Dawah offices in Makkah, Sheikh Saleh Al-Zahrani, agreed and stressed the importance of joining forces and cooperating to develop society.
