MAKKAH: A study on development projects in Makkah that would cost SR100 billion has been completed, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Khudairi, the Emir's Office undersecretary, said Monday. The proposed projects include transportation, development of unplanned areas and other development projects to serve Makkah's residents and visitors, he said. Speaking at the conclusion ceremony of the Turathiyat Heritage Forum and Exhibition, Dr. Al-Khudairi said Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, has approved short- and long-term development strategies. At the forum, which had allocations for limited-income people, he said it attracted participants from abroad and that it served different segments of society. Dr. Yahya Zamzami, secretary general of the District Centers Society, said the event reflected the partnerships between the government and the private sector. The success of this first experience makes it one to repeat, he said. The head of the event's working team, Dr. Ola Al-Qarni, said that the private sector's involvement shows that it has the desire for major participation in achieving the aspirations of the Emir of Makkah “for Makkah to become a city of the First World.”
