Security agencies foiled an attempt to smuggle half-a-ton of hashish into the Kingdom by way of the nation's eastern coast, said a spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Friday. Eleven smugglers, six Pakistanis and five Iranians, were arrested. Preliminary investigations have shown that the smugglers belong to a criminal network which smuggles drugs from Iran to GCC countries. They were being monitored when they entered Saudi waters and were arrested while delivering the consignment. The spokesman said the security authorities will continue carrying out their missions to protect the citizens and to foil any attempts to smuggle and distribute drugs.
