Batsmen shine in Dopco Cup tournament

biting encounter, Al-Saudi-XI thrashed Mazco and My care & Hala downed AOT GFC in Dopco Challengers Premier Cup matches, which are sponsored by Dopco Company and managed by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) here.
Elsewhere ALJ-Toyota and Al-Mazroi-XI emerged winners in the WPCA Morning tournament.
Crown Steel batting against Zultec scored 247. Its openers Shafeeq (42) and Hammad Saeed (61) put on 99 runs for the first wicket as it cruised to 167-3. But the drama unfolded after the drinks break when Abdullah and Jawwad grabbed six wickets to reduce Crown Steel to 202-9. Kamran scored 43. Jawwad bagged 3-27, Abdullah 3-36 and Bilal Khan 2-3, while Jawwad Sagheer and Jameel claimed a wicket each.
Zultec in reply kept losing wickets at regular intervals with half the side back with 129 on the board. Javed Iqbal contributed 52. The hero of the day Farook batted with determination to remain unbeaten on 81 and to help his team achieve the winning target of 251-6 along with Emad (18 not out) on the last ball. Shoaib took 3-26 as Zaheer and Ijaz bagged a wicket each.
Another match saw My care Hala plunder AOT GFC for 391-9 through an innings of sheer brilliance by Kashif Shafeeq, who blasted 161 off 97 balls. He first added 161 runs with Khurram Karamat (59), then added 60 runs with Rahat Ali (60). Nadeem Shah and Nasir Iqbal took three wickets each as Hafiz Jaffer claimed 2-35.
AOT GFC lost wickets at regular intervals and opener Faisal's 78, Faiq Habib's 35 and Hasnain 27 proved insufficient. It was bowled out for 208 as Abdullah took 4-55, Omer 2-36, Yasir 2-34 and Mohammed Taiyyab and Khurram a wicket each.
The third match saw Al-Saudi-XI beat Mazco by seven wickets. Mazco batting first was all out for 267 in almost 40 overs. Aamir made 47, Rashid Malik 38, Akram 27 and Aqeel 54. Dr. Aamir took 3-39, Mazher 2-27, while Nadeem Saad, Abdullah Aamir, Sarfaraz, Abbas and Rehmat took a wicket each.
Al-Saudi in reply reached the target of 271 for the loss of three wickets.
Its openers Mazher (55) and Abbas (62) put on 114. They were later helped by Sarfaraz (40) and Nadeem Javed (83). Rashid Malik, Samer and Irfan took a wicket each.
The Morning Tournament saw Al-Mazroi plunder 233-6 with Faisal scoring 65, Farook 60 and Waseem Mukadam 38 not out. It then bundled Hala International School out for 62 to win by 169 runs. Nouman took 2-59, Faizan 2-6 and Abdullah 2-14 for Al-Mazroi.
In another encounter Johnson Control Green lost to ALJ Toyota by four wickets as the Greens put on 167-3 with Sabahat making 55, Khubab unbeaten 26, Mumtaz 24 and Rashid 23. Adil took 2-18. ALJ Toyota reached 168-6 as zayed hit 53 and Basheer 30. Irshad bagged 2-20 and Amjad 2-32.
