Western Union surges, Micah's Pride pads lead
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 12 - 04 - 2008

Lavern Laderas turned out the sublime bowler when he propelled Western Union with a Bowler of the Week-winning performance of 710 handicapped series against NWSE (Mix) in the 17th week of the FEDBG-TNBL 6th conference at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.
Helped with 655 by Pancho Cuevas, Laderas shocked opponents with his entry of 257 to have Western Union split the first set at 2-2 from scratch of 858-864 and handicapped set of 961-960. From there on Western Union patched up errors and became more cohesive to inspire Laderas for 240 and 213 continuity. With Cuevas accelerating from 180 to 210 and 265 Western Union silenced the Mix till the match ended at 18-2 (3,058-2,827) including the last two sets of 1,055-949 and 1,042-918.
In those prolific blows of Laderas and Cuevas, Lynda Escondo maintained solid help at 539 as Bheng Cerbito, Ed Tuico and TC Jess Cerbito rendered most needed assistance.
Alex Flora, Danny Manriza, Grace Siasoco and Rico Neri tried defending NWSE above their averages but those efforts turned out to be insufficient with Wilson Triguero and Nanding Siasoco rolled less.
Lane Master.exe firmly kept second spot by blanking Pin Slammers with Cesar Monares remaining as the star of the show with the support of Malou Nidoy, Ferdie Coloma and TC Joel Nidoy. Leo Lopez covered Pin Slammers with 607. Micah's Pride also did great against Ice Land Friends (16-4) as Ester Santoc led and won the Female Bowler of the Week honor with total output of 651 (210, 211 and 226) humbling the 621 of Myrna de Guzman on the other side.
In other results it was: Tropang Butaw edged Pin Drillers (11-9), PICPA toppled FNC (16-4), Wolf busted Ablaze-2 (18-2) and Bugshan disappointed Sahara Cobra (17-3).
From a seven-point gap from Lane Master.exe, Micah's Pride Pa Rin added 34 points and now has a 35-point advantage after its 20-0 battle in the 18th week of the tournament.
Micah's Pride computed 426 points leaving the Masters with 391 as the former eclipsed the latter with 2,985-2,788 thanks to Ester Santoc, who won her second Bowler of the Week honor. Santoc helped lift Micah's with 563 (201, 222 and 230). Helping Santoc were Arnold Santoc 615, TC Francis Alquiros, Oca Bernabe, Ruel Santoc and Jun Pilipina.
Hadi Pacheco tried bolstering Lane Masters with 575 with 219 entrance game but teammates' outputs were not enough to deal with the challenge.
Western Union followed up its upward movement pursing 31 points on the expense of Pin Slammers from whom the Jess Cerbito-led team dealt 18-2 to compute 285 and climbed from 12th to 10th spot. Lynda Escondo, Cuevas, and J. Cerbito were the stars for WU while Ed Bolido covered the Pin Slammers with Bowler of the Week-winning score of 632.
In other results: PICPA beat Ablaze-2 (11-9), Cobra humbled Pin Drillers (16-4), Wolf overpowered Ice Land Friends (13-7), NWSE (mix) defeated Bugshan (18-2) and Tropang Butaw edged FNC (11-9). __
