Two teams of veterans working in diverse fields in the Kingdom made sure the festival match between CGI-XI and IYWA-XI would prove to be a spectacular event. The match was jointly organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) and Indian Youth Welfare Association (IYWA) at the JCA sports complex in Usfan. Players from both the teams were greeted by the JCA Chairman Dr. Faiz Al Abideen upon their arrival. Their performances, stance and skills hinted at prior experience of playing cricket. CGI-XI was captained by Consul General of India Faiz Ahmed Kidwai. The IYWA-XI batsman played powerful strokes, reaching the target of 156 with one over to spare. Syed Majeed Ul Hassan, JCA executive secretary, acknowledged the teams, their compatriots, families and spectators. Dr. Al Abideen, Consul (Hajj & P/I) B.S. Mubarak, Consul (Commercial & Cultural) Shakeel Ahmed, Consul (Consular) Pranav Ganesh, IYWA Chief Patron Ramnarayan Iyer and IYWA Chief Coordinator Muzzammil Hussain also spoke. Kidwai was named Man of the Match. Other awardees were: Jawed Ahmed, Yash Roy - Best Batsman; Mir Taqi Ali, Anmol - Best Bowling; Shakeel Ahmed, Mohd Zubair - Best Fielders; Kumar Krishan, Azam Khan - umpiring awards. Service awardees were Amjad Mahmood, Mohammad Hyder Abbas Zaki, Osama Anwar Ul Haque and Zeeshan Baquer Ali. Gold medals were handed out to the winning team and runners-up received silver medals. The match was sponsored by Harsco Baroom Limited. Toshiba ALJ presented DVDs while Sigma Paints distributed caps and T-shirts to the players.
