Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — In a tragic incident amid the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations, a young Indian girl died of heart attack while playing at the popular Half Moon beach in Al-Khobar Friday morning. A 10th grade student at International Indian School in Dammam (IISD), Saher Parvez was just 15 years old. "It was a pleasure trip. We gathered at the beach and my daughter was enjoying the seawaters. After some time she came out from the waters and called my wife," the girl's father Parvez Ali Khan told Saudi Gazette. "Seeing the sudden worsening of her condition, my wife who was near panic called for help. The rescue teams from the coast guard rushed to the spot and shifted her to King Fahd Medical City, where Saher was pronounced dead on arrival," Khan. Khan, hailing from Rampur in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, has been living in the Eastern Province for the last 20 years. He lived with his wife and two children — a son and daughter. Social media was abuzz with rumors that Saher, one of the best students in IISD, was dead of snakebite while she was playing in the water. However, her father said they were informed by doctors that the girl died of a massive heart attack. The family is waiting to complete the legal procedures for burial. The Half-Moon Beach in the Eastern Province, which has the longest coastline in the Gulf region with an estimated 700 kilometers, is the most popular destination for holidaymakers in the region, especially during Eid celebrations. The Eastern Province Municipality makes special arrangements at the beach for the holiday seasons.
