RIYADH – Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of an Iraqi man in connection with the murder of two staff members at the Kingdom Schools in Riyadh late last month, Okaz Online reported Wednesday. Another person was wounded in the attack. According to Col. Fawaz Al-Mayman, spokesman for Riyadh Police, detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department apprehended the Iraqi, who matched the descriptions given by eyewitnesses. Police were able to track down the man despite his attempts to change his physical appearance. Police also seized a pistol, which is believed to be the murder weapon, and 23 bullets from the man. The attack took place in the school's administration building in the morning on May 31, he fifth day of the fasting month of Ramadan. There were no students or teachers at the school at the time as it was closed for summer holidays. Al-Mayman said police were informed of a shooting incident in the private-run school in northern Riyadh. Police deployed several officers to the location to investigate. The officers found two people, a Saudi in his 30s and a Palestinian in his 40s, shot dead at the scene. A third man, an Egyptian national in his 30s, had received bullet wounds. He was given first aid and rushed to hospital. Al-Mayman said police issued an All Points Bulletin (APB) on the killer based on witness accounts. The results of forensic tests also helped the police identify the murder suspect. The pistol found in the Iraqi's possession had the same features of the weapon used in the murder. On confronting him with evidence, the Iraqi admitted to the crime. The suspect has been taken into custody and the Public Prosecution has been informed of the arrest, Al-Mayman said.
