Eight members of a family died while seven others were injured in a fire that broke out at their house here in the early hours of Thursday. The dead included four children less than ten years old. Col. Mansour Bin Muhammad Al-Dawsari, spokesman of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province, was quoted in local media as saying tht the fire broke out in the two-floor building in the early hours of Thursday while the family members were sleeping. Civil Defense personnel rushed to the site and saved 15 people trapped inside and rushed them to the hospital. An eyewitness said that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in the main supply line. Reports said the head of the family died last week and his many nephews and nieces, who were at the house to offer condolences, decided to spend the night. A neighbor saw heavy smoke billowing out of the house and called the Civil Defense.
