Firefighters and rescue teams were sent to Al-Romailah High School to extinguish a fire that the school guard managed to put out before they arrived. Major Mansour Al-Dawsari, spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Eastern Province, said the fire broke out when an air-conditioner malfunctioned after being left operating for a long period of time. The school, in which 420 students are enrolled, is another in a long list of girls' schools that have reported fires in recent months. Many of the schools have been in the Eastern Province, and authorities have blamed the poor condition of electrical wiring and air-conditioning units for the fire outbreaks. – Okaz/SG __
