Three members of a Yemeni family – a 70-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman, and a young boy – died Saturday in a sudden fire that broke out in a house in Kilo 6, near Al-Jamea District in southern Jeddah. The early-morning fire erupted in the sitting room and spread to other parts of the house, said Maj. Abdullah Al-Amri, Civil Defense spokesman. “After receiving a report about the fire, three teams rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames in the house,” he said. “Most of the walls of the two-floor house looked like they were painted black due to the thick smoke and gases from the burning furniture.” Investigators are examining the scene to confirm there was no foul play and to determine the cause of the fire, which was most likely caused by a short circuit, he added. __
