Judge shines for Yankees again
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 04 - 05 - 2017

Aaron Judge hit two more home runs and the New York Yankees slugged five in an 11-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night.
Judge capitalized on a 23 mph wind blowing out to right field with a two-run homer off Mat Latos (0-1) with nobody out in the second. He added a long three-run homer into the left field seats with nobody out in the seventh off Jason Grilli.
Judge finished with four RBIs and recorded his second career multi-home run game. The right fielder has hit five of his 12 home runs and recorded 10 RBIs in his last five games.
Brett Gardner also homered twice for the Yankees, who won for the 15th time in 20 games. It marked the first time the Yankees had two players hit two home runs in a game at home since Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson on Oct. 3, 2012.
Red Sox 5, Orioles 2: Chris Sale, given offensive support for the first time by his new team, threw eight strong innings and Hanley Ramirez hit two long solo homers to power Boston.
Sale, who had received four runs of support in his first five starts with the Red Sox, allowed three hits and two runs while striking out 11 — his fifth straight double-figure strikeout game. Sale (2-2) walked two. His ERA rose from 1.19 to 1.38.
Sale also extended the Manny Machado drama by throwing behind him in the first inning. That brought a warning to both benches — and the end to anything else Tuesday. Machado later homered off Sale.
Astros 8, Rangers 7: Marwin Gonzalez cranked his first career grand slam with two outs in the eighth inning, lifting Houston to a comeback victory.
Angels 6, Mariners 4 (11 innings): Albert Pujols doubled home Mike Trout with the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and set up the insurance score by stealing third to propel Los Angeles to victory.
Dodgers 13, Giants 5: Franklin Gutierrez homered in his first at-bat off the disabled list, and Yasiel Puig drove in four runs to lead Los Angeles.
Cubs 8, Phillies 3: Kyle Schwarber clubbed a three-run homer while Kris Bryant and Javier Baez each added solo shots as Chicago defeated Philadelphia.
Tigers 5, Indians 2: Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer in his return from the disabled list and Detroit won its third straight game.
Twins 9, Athletics 1: Miguel Sano continued his hot streak at the plate while Ervin Santana pitched another gem as Minnesota defeated Oakland.
Braves 9, Mets 7: Atlanta got the best of Matt Harvey for the second time in less than a week, again scoring six runs against the New York right-hander en route to victory.
Diamondbacks 6, Nationals 3: Chris Herrmann went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and Arizona hit three long balls to defeat Washington.
White Sox 6, Royals 0: Jose Quintana threw eight strong innings and Yolmer Sanchez had three hits and drove in a run as Chicago beat Kansas City.
Cardinals 2, Brewers 1: Carlos Martinez bounced back from a series of poor starts, allowing one unearned run on four hits over 7 1/3 innings while leading St. Louis to victory.
Rays 3, Marlins 1: Logan Morrison homered against his former team, Alex Cobb pitched six scoreless innings and Tampa Bay defeated Miami.
Pirates 12, Reds 3: Josh Harrison hit a three-run homer and Tyler Glasnow pitched six innings to earn his first career victory while adding a two-run single to lift Pittsburgh.
Padres 6, Rockies 2: Trevor Cahill surrendered an unearned run over six innings and was supported by back-to-back home runs from Yangervis Solarte and Ryan Schimpf as San Diego defeated Colorado. — Reuters
