Blue Jays 2, Twins 1: Jose Bautista homered for the third time in two nights and Drew Hutchison threw six strong innings for his second career win and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins. Athletics 3, Tigers 1: Brandon McCarthy matched a career high with 10 strikeouts after missing his last start with a sore right shoulder, leading the Oakland Athletics past the Detroit Tigers. Royals 5, White Sox 0: Luke Hochevar allowed three hits in seven shutout innings and the Kansas City Royals scored three first-inning runs off Chris Sale to beat the Chicago White Sox.
