Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — To welcome the general secretary of All India Majlis Tameer-e-Millat, Omer Ahmed Shafee, a gathering was arranged here recently. Shafee was in Jeddah to perform Umrah. The welcome gathering was arranged by the external wing of All India Majlis Tameer-e-Millat named "Ehbabe-Millat" Jeddah at the residence of Syed Jamalullah Qadri. Many prominent members from the Indian community and members of different organizations attended. Speaking on the occasion, Shafee paid rich tribute to the founder of association, Syed Khalilullah Hussaini, ex-president Maulana Abdul Raheem Qureshi, ex-vice president Maulana Sulaiman Sikandar and ex-general secretary Kareem Raza, for their continuous and unconditional efforts to serve the Muslim Ummah. He added, the current situation of the country shows that Muslims are the most weak of the minorities, who face a lot of difficulties but thanks to Almighty Allah we will be able to overcome all those troubles and maintain our identity. Briefing about the organization's current activities, he said, "We are working on many projects, some of them are educational scholarships to poor students, financial assistance to needy people along with free distribution of food items and cloths to deprived families etc. "Last year we conveyed food items to 1,200 families, clothes and other essentials to 300 families and financially helped 1,400 widows," he said. He stressed on the need of preparing youngsters to join civil services because a civil servant can help more to develop our nation. Siadath Ali Khan, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Abdul Haq Hashim, Mohd Rasheed, Jamal Qadri, Majeed Qadri Almosawi also spoke at the event. They highlighted and discussed the current affairs of the country. Earlier, the program started with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Hafiz and a member of Bazm-e-Ehbab Makkah Syed Habibullah and it was followed by a Naat of student of IISJ Ibrahim Riyaz Ahmed. Convener of Bazm-e-Ehbab Jeddah, Mohd Faheem introduced the guest and congratulated him on performing Umrah. Bazm-e-Ehbab Jeddah and Bazm-e-Ettihad Jeddah presented gifts to the guest while Maulvi Syed Abdul Majeed Qadri Almosawi presented a shawl to him.
