A cemetery in the holy city of Makkah has turned into a waste dumping site after the fence around it crashed. Moreover, the wall also crumbled and the cemetery has now become an easy walkway for the pedestrians. Residents of the neighborhood have expressed their concern and stressed that the municipality must intervene to protect the sanctity of the the dead. Talal Saeed complained of violations at Umrah cemetery, for its lack of fencing, noting that animals and stray dogs mess with the graveyards and people have starting piling waste on the facility. Saud Al-Jami said that the cemetery needs proper fencing in order to protect the sanctity of the dead, noting that many of the children play football on the graves. He explained that the cemetery became a breeding ground for stray dogs that linger in the neighborhood, hinting that some of the well-wishers hire people to clean the cemetery, especially after the waste is dumped in larger quantities.
