Cars and stray animals violated the sanctity of the dead in a cemetery in Taima, Tabuk province, as the site lacked a fence to protect it and define its features. Many people have complained about this dire situation that affected more than 100 graves at the site where their parents and grandparents are buried. When the mayor of Taima attributed the failure to fencing the cemetery to a lack of funds, a philanthropist took action to protect the sanctity of the dead and donated bricks to be placed over graves to draw attention to them. But his effort did not yield the required results. Taima residents called on the municipality demanding quick action to fence the area in order to preserve the sanctity of the dead. Massad Al-Anzi criticized the silence of the municipality, which he said had ignored violations against the dead at the scene. "We suffer a lot when we see stray dogs desecrate the graves of our beloved ones. What's more painful is listening to the response the municipality, which is awaiting funds to build a fence. We can't tolerate this any more," said Al-Anzi, adding that his ancestors lived in the area for more than 300 years. He commended the the philanthropist who donated the bricks to mark the graves to draw the attention of drivers. "But that is not enough. We need a fence to show respect to our dead," he added. Mayor of Taima Saud bin Hearsan Al-Anzi said protecting the cemetery is within the plan. He pointed out that they are waiting for funds to finish the fencing.
