JUBAIL — The former president of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christian Wulff, who is also the president of the Euro-Mediterranean-Arab Association (EMA) inaugurated on Sunday the new office facilities of DYWIDAG Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd. In Jubail. He is leading a high level German business delegation visiting the Eastern Province and Jeddah. The delegation is accompanied by Oliver Oehms (Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen), German Ambassador Dieter W. Haller, and a member of the German Federal Parliament. The 3-day visit is organized by the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO). DYWIDAG Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd. is a member of STRABAG Group, one of the largest construction companies in Europe employing over 73,000 people having operations all over the world with a significant presence in the Middle East. DYWIDAG has been operating in the Kingdom since 1979 specializing in Industrial construction and has executed several major projects like TV center in Riyadh, the world largest sea water cooling tower as well as several projects with Saudi Cement, Hadeed and Ma'aden and recently Sadara in the Eastern Province. Alexander Wagner, Commercial Director pointed out that the new office has 1,000 sqm. and is meant to be a visible structure to our clients and customers to show and prove the capability and standard of the company. The establishment of DYWIDAG spread over an area of 220,000 sqm. that comprises the main camp to accommodate the company's employees as also various in house workshops. As it was mentioned that the design and even most of the furniture was produced in-house the delegation gave a spontaneous applause. Bernhard Schmitt, Technical Director gave a brief overview of the company's history and fields of activities in the past and future. The company views the Kingdom as a major region for further investment and growth and looks forward to stronger and even more vibrant business relations between Saudi Arabia and Germany. Earlier the delegation visited Asharq Chamber (Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry) where they were given a presentation on investment opportunities in the Eastern Province. A SAGIA representative also outlined the policies and procedures for the investment which have been simplified. A short film on the growth and development of industrial hub in the Eastern Province was also shown to the delegation. The German delegation on its part focused on traditional and historical relation between Germany and the Kingdom and showcased several investment opportunities in Germany and explored areas of collaborations.
