The third German Catalogue Show which opened in Riyadh at Al-Khozamah Hotel continued at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises on Wednesday. Sponsored by Schenker, the show is aimed at increasing the economic relations between German and Saudi businessmen. It is the main aim of the German Saudi Arabian Liaison office for Economic Affairs (GESALO), said Gerd M. Doepner, a delegate of German Industry and Commerce. Dr. Fahad Al-Sultan Secretary General, Council of Saudi Chambers, underscored the strong cooperation between the Council of Saudi Chambers and the GESALO. GESALO is the official representative of German Industry and Commerce in Saudi Arabia, as well in Bahrain, Kuwait and Yemen. GESALO has become a major catalyst, a reliable partner and an energetic actor in Saudi-German commercial ties. Against the background of increasing opportunities in Saudi Arabia, we are working on a further expansion of business relations between the two countries, he said, aiming to attract several hundreds of German businessmen each year to visit the Kingdom and meet new business partners, he added. Exports from Germany to Saudi Arabia from Jan - Dec 2008 reached 5,185,676,000 euros. In December 2008 alone, it hit 459,217,000 euros. Exports from Saudi Arabia to Germany from Jan - Dec 2008 reached 1,506,470,000 euros. The Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes the idea of having the German Catalogue Show as it supports to develop the activities of small and medium-sized companies in both countries.
