JEDDAH — Noor Educational Society, Jeddah, recently hosted a program in honor visiting TRS leader Mohd Azam Ali, who was in the Kingdom to perform Umrah. Khalid Hussain Madni, vice president of the society, welcomed Ali by presenting him a shawl and thanked him for attending the event despite his busy schedule. Introducing the activities of the society, Madni said washing, shrouding and burying the dead is a major problem faced by Muslims of Telangana, especially Hyderabad, these days. Because of this, the society has initiated a program to assist the needy people in fulfilling the rights of the dead. The society also extends assistance for the burial of unclaimed bodies of people who die in the streets, he said. Madni pointed out that this is a problem that affects not just the poor but other segments of society as well. He handed a memorandum addressed to Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mahmoud Ali to Ali. In the memorandum Madni requested the government of Telangana to find suitable land for a Muslim graveyard in Hyderabad and to buy an ambulance for the society. He said members and well wishers of Noor Educational Society would support this noble cause with their contributions. While acknowledging the Telangana government has been taking extra steps to resolve problems faced by the minority communities, especially Muslims, he expressed hope that this issue would also be solved. Mohd Liaqat Ali Khan, the society's general secretary, said, "In view of our activities for the welfare of poor Muslims, we request the government of Telangana to provide necessary support to our society to accomplish this noble cause." Such support will bring the minorities closer to the TRS government, he added. While addressing the function, Ali assured his full support for the cause. He said he will pass the memorandum to the deputy chief minister and the chief minister and promised to do his best to resolve the issue. "The Telangana government is relentlessly working to solve the problems faced by the minority communities," he said, while appreciating the society's services to the community. Earlier, several speakers who addressed the function appreciated the services of Deputy Chief Minister Mahmoud Ali for the welfare of his people.
