RIYADH – The general secretary for minority affairs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi has assured Indian expatriates working in the Kingdom that he would make representation to the Telangana state government to resolve problems facing them.
Zahooruddin Yousufi was addressing a felicitation ceremony organized in his honor by All India United Society (AIUS) at Niagara Restaurant's banquet hall in Riyadh.
Yousufi briefed the audience about various welfare schemes and programs initiated by the state government for minorities. He said we are trying to create awareness among minorities about various government schemes. Though highly beneficial these schemes mostly remain utilized due to a lack of awareness among the public.
Yousufi focused on the Telangana government's schemes like Swachh Telangana and Swachh Hyderabad for which the government has allocated 2 billion rupees, in addition to 750 million rupees for the Niti Ayogg.
He said the government started the Kalyan Lakshmi/Shadi Mubarak scheme for all weaker sections and minorities to extend 51,000 rupees in aid to families toward marriage expenses of girls.
He said people should strive to get maximum benefits from such schemes in order to alleviate people's suffering. Society should create awareness about these schemes as well as many other schemes that will benefit the community.
In his presidential address, Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali appreciated the work carried out by the Telangana government and requested the visiting leader to press the government for creating jobs for returning NRIs.
After working for long periods in Saudi Arabia, many skilled workers have become experts in their respective fields and their expertise could be beneficial to the state, Ashraf Ali said.
He honored the chief guest by presenting him the traditional shawl.
Mohammed Jabbar, president, Telangana NRI Forum; Riyazuddin, president, Muhibaan e Jamia Nizamia; Waliullah Sharif and Mohammed Abdul Basith also spoke on the occasion.
Haifiz Khaja Aleemuddin conducted the proceedings while Syed Khalid Kareem proposed the vote of thanks.
