JEDDAH — The Samahang Pinoy Tennis club awarded Marlon Pagsanjan and Mario Betorio as the tournament's Best Doubles pair during an awarding ceremony held at the Al-Qatan Tourism Village, South of Jeddah, recently. Families and friends of SPTC members joined in to witness the ceremony honoring the winners of the tournament that was conducted from July 29 to Aug. 12 by the club at the King Abdulaziz University sports complex. Team Black received the champion's trophy with each player receiving a champion's medal and a certificate. The following were the champions in their respective categories: category Legend - Bernie Soguilon and Pol Fernandez; Category B+ - Fred Masangkay and Boy Isuga; Category B2 - Oca Lovitos, Cizzner Carascal, Waymor Carmelotes, Roman Alcantara, Leo Maranion, Mark Anthony Banaag; Category C - Ali Callanta, Mashur Jamiri, Yusuff Adriatico, Ariel Domingo, Nilo Gamba, Allan Mabini, Arnold Tambalo, and Pierre Abou Toumo. Team White received the finalist's trophy, while each member was handed a medal and a certificate. The winners were: Category Legend – CQ Quilenderino and Gary Bautro; Category B+ - Norwin Catipay and Celso Abella; Category B2 - Marlon Pagsanjan, Mario Betrorio, Roy Timtiman, Julius Garcia, Mike Amerol, Rolly Saldana, Eman Usman, Sherwin Nervais, Nasser "the Chef" Cayquep, Zaldy Gabriel, JM Bravo, Hajji Pilongo, Fernan Fermin, and Clark Maldo. Team White was captained by Marlon Pagsanjan, whereas Team Black was captained by Waymor Carmelotes. Ariel Domingo, the SPTC chairman, led in organizing and managing the Beat the Heat Tennis Tournament with the support of club officers. Other officers of the Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club were: Roy Timtiman - vice chairman for-internal affairs, Mario Betorio - vice chairman for external affairs, Jun Tomas - vice chairman for membership development; Nasser Cayquep – secretary; JM Bravo — Treasurer; Gilbert Gochuico – Auditor; Mashur Jamiri - Press Relation Director; Vic Rebong - Business Manager; Waymor Carmelotes – Tournament Director; Technical Committee - Oca Lovitos; Nilo Gamba, Zaldy Gabriel, Eman Usman, Fernan Roxas, and Yusuf Adriatico. The SPTC board of advisers is composed of: CQ Quilenderino, Pol Fernandez, Gary Bautro, Marlon Pagsanjan, and Ali Callanta.
