A Saudi woman and her son were injured when their house in Najran was hit by a projectile fired from across the Yemen border. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The house was severely damaged in the strike, with almost an entire wall destroyed. Drug smuggling attempt foiled ARAR — Customs officers at the Al-Amri border crossing with Jordan foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 30,000 speed pills hidden in a shipment into the Kingdom. The drugs were concealed inside bottles of oil, but customs officers discovered them after they saw a suspicious-looking plastic bag on the back of the trunk. The driver and his accomplices in the smuggling operation were arrested. Piling work causes building to collapse ABHA — A furnished apartment building partly collapsed in Abha due to ongoing construction work adjacent to the building. A contractor at the construction site dug a large hole next to the building, causing the building to partly collapse after soil eroded from underneath it. The Civil Defense shutdown electricity to the building and evacuated all occupants. No one was injured in the accident and an investigation is under way. Mother-son duo rob cab driver JAZAN — A woman and her son were arrested for stealing money from a taxi driver. The woman and her son, who was also dressed in an abaya, threatened the driver using a knife and stole all the money he had on him. They escaped from the scene, but police were able to arrest them a short time later. The case is still under investigation. Man killed in rock fall AL-QURAYYAT — A Saudi man in his 40s died after a large rock fell on top of him in Al-Qurayyat, in the north of the Kingdom. Rescue teams from the Civil Defense arrived at the location to find the man trapped underneath the rock. Civil Defense teams were able to remove the rock and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
