and Othman Al-Shallash Okaz/Saudi Gazette JAZAN — The father of a 5-year-old girl who fell to death from a fourth-floor shopping center said he will not demand an investigation into the incident and will accept his daughter's death as fate. Emad Hanshaly said his daughter Fai had fallen off the fourth floor of a famous shopping center in Jazan. "What happened to her was simply fate. I don't believe there is any question of homicide or any criminal motive. I received her body on Monday and we buried her at our native village of Qaem Al-Dash in Sibya governorate," said Hanshaly. He also said his daughter was with her mother and uncle at the shopping center to shop for Eid before she strayed and fell down. "My wife is speechless. She cannot get over the horror of what she had seen. She fell off the escalator and her body was splattered in blood. The security guards are the ones that carried her to hospital and later informed my wife that Fai is dead," said Hanshaly. A source said the incident sparked an outrage among shoppers about the lack of safety measures at the shopping center. They said the incident was not the first to happen there. "People urged the shopping center to increase the height of fences on the top floors and increase security to prevent similar accidents from happening again. Others have criticized posting pictures of the little girl's body on social media, describing the act insensitive," said the source. In Buraidah, meanwhile, the municipality rejected the demand for SR3 million in blood money by the father of a boy who was killed by feral dogs. The municipality said it was not responsible for what happened to the boy. "The municipality has no control over feral dogs," it said. The boy's father, Badr Al-Harbi, believed the death of his nine-year-old son Abdullah was because of the municipality's negligence in carrying out its responsibilities.
