As the term of present chairman of the managing committee of International School Dammam (IISD) Dr. Abdussalam Kanniyan ended, the election of new chairman for the term starting from May 15, was conducted in the school conference hall on Saturday in the presence of Indian Embassy Observer Dr. Hifzur Rahman (second secretary) and Hussain Al Maqbool, observer and senior supervisor from the Ministry of Education in the Eastern Province. Members of the managing committee participated in the process of election in which Abdul Waris, the present Academic Sub Committee Convener, was elected unanimously as the new chairman. Abdul Waris who hails from Hyderabad and works as project manager at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, has been elected for one-year period starting from May 15. Both the officials from the Embassy of India and the Ministry of Education, the outgoing Chairman Dr. Abdussalam Kanniyan and all the other members of the managing committee and the principal congratulated the newly elected chairman and wished him a successful tenure. Dr. Hifzur Rahman and Hussain Al Maqbool briefed the committee on the few measures they have to adopt and the areas they have to take care to improve the space problem and for the smooth functioning of the school. — SG
