IISD: A unique school where quality is never compromised with quantity

established in 1982 — (IISD) is one of the largest schools in the world with over 18,500 students and 1,000 strong faculty on its rolls. IIS Dammam imparts education to the Indian children in the age group of 3 – 17 years in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
With an inspiring motto ‘In Quest of Excellence' the school through the years has established an impressive reputation in academic and co-curricular areas. Functioning with most modern amenities, IIS Dammam has a unique distinction of having a ‘Special Child Care' Section, fully equipped accordingly and managed by duly trained professionals nurturing those children with special needs. The school has fully automated libraries in all the sections with a collection of over 60,000 volumes and an active and regular acquisition program.
This community school is governed by a seven-member managing committee elected by the parents and the Principal & Head of the Institution serving as its member secretary. It is functioning under the patronage of the Embassy of India, Riyadh, and according to the guidance of the Department of Foreign and Private Schools in the Ministry of Education, KSA, with the support of Higher Board for Indian Schools in the Kingdom. The Ambassador of India to the Kingdom is the school patron.
IIS Dammam has been achieving 100% meritorious results in the All India Secondary School (AISSC) and All India Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (AISSCE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi. In the co-curricular arena too, IIS Dammam has attained an invincible position by winning the coveted ‘Overall Cluster Championship' of the CBSE affiliated schools in KSA for five (5) years consecutively. The School has achieved impressive gains in the CBSE National Meets too.
IIS Dammam Academic Calendar includes many innovative programs. The school regularly recruits teachers through a very transparent and high standard three tier procedure of Written Aptitude Test, Classroom Management Assessment and Personal Interview. Staff Training Program is an effective agenda of its academic program. School Foundation Day is celebrated with much pomp and splendor wherein long serving faculty is honored. School conducts annual academic awards ceremony to felicitate the meritorious students.
A Career Fair is organized annually with participation from different universities and colleges to enlighten our senior students in the choice of an ideal course and career path. Career talks are organized from time to time where very eminent personalities are addressing the students. Spectra and EduEX, science and educational exhibitions demonstrating the scientific talents of our children are being conducted annually. In the literary area, the school has two publications – School Annual ‘Focus'reflecting the literary skill of our students and "Cascade', a quarterly newsletter as a channel of communication with parents. Our students bring out two publications on their own – Torch by the boys and Avenue by the Girls. The school has a vibrant Scouts & Guides Squadron as part of the National Bharath Scouts.
Dr. Abdussalam Kanniyan, faculty member from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, and an eminent social personality is the present Chairman of the School Managing Committee and Dr. E. K. Mohammed Shaffe, a proud recipient of the prestigious National Teachers Award from the President of India, is the Principal and Head of the Institution.
