Dr. Abdussalam Kanniyan, chairman of International Indian School Dammam (IISD), has been awarded as the "Personality of the Year 2015" by Vatakara NRI Forum, an eminent expatriate community group in the Kingdom. The award was based on the outstanding performance in the field of community service and the perceptive contributions in the field of educational upliftment of children. Dr. Abdussalam, a faculty from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran, had been elected as the member of the managing committee in the IISD with the highest number of votes by parents. The school with 18,500 students is the biggest of its kind in the world, which is in the forefront of educational achievements when compared to that of its counterparts. The school has 100 percent successful result in the secondary level and 99 percent in Senior Secondary Board exams by entering a high number of students for the board exam. As chairman, Dr. Abdussalam has taken several initiative for the development of the school including creativity center for young talents, language lab for students, smart classrooms with a special mention to online evaluation by students on teachers and many more. A special mobile application exclusive for the school is nearing completion and is expected to be launched soon. The school chairman is keen to create a clear rapport between school management and the community by opening communication channels. He has an extensive experience of 19 years in different universities and colleges and has presented papers in many international conferences all over the world. He is in the editorial board of six international journals and many research publications are to his credit. The school has started many coaching programs for competitive exams for the students.
