On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Diaverum, a leading global renal care provider, invited the media to one of their clinics in north Jeddah. The event was designed to provide media people with a 360-degree perspective of the issues surrounding renal care and interact with experts and patients. The tour kicked off with Ziyad Kabli, managing director for Middle East at Diaverum, hosting a "kidney-friendly" breakfast to highlight the importance of a healthy, balanced diet for dialysis patients and for the prevention of chronic kidney disease (CKD). As part of its priority to deliver state-of-the-art treatment to renal care patients, Diaverum works in close partnership with the Ministry of Health. Commenting on this synergy, Ziyad Kabli said: "Our collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Health allows us to work together to deliver long-term value and patient excellence in Saudi Arabia. We also ensure that Saudis in all regions are provided with access to cutting-edge technology and specialist renal care." Following the breakfast, Dr. Saeed Alghamdi, regional medical director at Diaverum, took the media on a tour of the facilities, including the patient room where patients undergo dialysis and are assisted by nurses and doctors in a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere. Alghamdi said: "On World Kidney Day, we took the opportunity to take some of our key stakeholders and members of the media though our clinic at north Jeddah. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a serious condition and we offer cutting-edge technology, specialist care and keep our patients at the core of everything we do. We are also very focused on raising awareness in order to prevent CKD, which affects an estimated 9 percent of the Saudi population." The tour concluded with a patient sharing his journey with CKD and how Diaverum's patient-centric approach made his treatment easy and seamless. World Kidney Day is an initiative organized by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF) in order to raise awareness on CKD. Currently in its 11th edition, World Kidney Day is the most widely celebrated event focused on raising awareness on kidney health across the globe. "We support World Kidney Day's theme focused on children this year and wish to raise awareness among the youth in order to highlight the crucial role of early detection and healthy lifestyle habits in preventing and eliminating kidney disease," Alghamdi said.
