Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Supervisor of Prince Fahd bin Salman Charitable Association for Care of Renal Failure Patients, patronized here yesterday the launch of Kidney Diseases Medical Awareness Campaign, organized by Prince Salman Center for Kidney Diseases in collaboration with the Association in conjunction with World Kidney Day. Addressing the ceremony, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said that renal failure diseases have become a global phenomenon, noting that the statistics of World Health Organization show that there are more than 500 million people world-wide suffering from chronic kidney failure diseases. He pointed out that Prince Fahd bin Salman Charitable Association for Care of Renal Failure Patients is currently treating about 700 patients in the different regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, representing from 8 to 9 % of the total number of kidney failure disease patients. For his part, the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, said that the Ministry of Health has expanded centers for kidney treatment through the addition of more than 250 dialysis chairs and provision of 1,200 dialysis machines in the past year, in addition to the approval of purchasing the first phase of dialysis services costing SR 180 million.
