Fame Thunder opens Titan–JBL event with a win

Fame Thunder of Miramonte Brothers beat VICCM 100-74 in the opening game of the Titan Watch–JBL Basketball Tournament at the Khalidia basketball court here last weekend.
Fame in its patented run-and-gun offense silenced the outside shooting of VICCM. Legarde scored 23 points for the winner and was adjudged the Titan Player of the Game. Dela Cuadra top scored with 30 points for the loser.
Cinnabon of manager Jhun Ducusin defeated Paninos 74-55 in the 40-&-Above Division. Encabo collected 20 points for the winner and was named the JBL Player of the Game. Elmer tendero had 15 points for the loser.
Khalidia Aces of coach Ronnie beat Malmon 97-66. The winner took the home court advantage from the start. The loser tried hard but committed crucial errors in the final quarter. Serrano and Claridad led the winner with 19 points apiece and were adjudged Titan Players of the Game. Sena and Garcia had 14 points apiece for the loser.
This is JBL's first project for the 2016 season.
Twenty participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony, which was presided by JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Director Donald Doloso.
Ali Ajlaani of Al-Aziziyah Islamic Center opened the ceremony with an inspiring speech conveying the Islamic center's programs thru sports. Coach Rey Madattu of Khights Team led the oath of sportsmanship. Mahmoud Quidlat gave an inspirational Islamic invocation.
The awards for the Best Team in Uniform went to Fame Thunders (Miramonte Brother) and Old Dawgs (Elmer Tendero), Jedsa 16 (Dennis Hizole) and Cinnabon (Jhun Ducusin), while the Best Mascot awards went to VICCM, Jeddah Titans, Old Dawgs, Jedsa 16 and Cinnabon.
The tournament is principally sponsored by Titan Watch of Al-Hussaini & Al-Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Husssaini), while the co-sponsors are: Al-Aziziyah Islamic Center (Sheikh Ahmad and Sheikh Ali Ajlani), Mandhoubiyah Islamic Propagation Office, Jeddah Dawah Center, Giordano Fashions (Ahmadullah) and Ric Printing.
Meanwhile, in Gensoul Basketball Tournament, Junior Orange and Senior White won their knockout games for third place finishes. Harrieth Pandapatan (Juniors) and Nelson Umlas (Seniors) were adjudged the Players of the Game. Midget Grey captured the Championship Crown in the Midget Division by beating the Black Team 77-59.
Seniors Yellow beat Black 89-84 to advance to the best-of-three championship games. Alexander Adam Romualdo (Midget) and Jayon Ricamara (Seniors) won the players' honors. — SG
