The International Indian School, Buraidah (IISB) celebrated its Annual Day and Award Function – 2015 for the boys section with great pomp and show. From a humble start on Aug. 26, 1989 with 45 students and 9 teachers, the school today has 2,301 Indian and 215 non Indian students on its roll under the able guidance of 127 teachers, 15 admin staff and 49 others. Othman Ahmed Al Hissan, supervisor, Ministry of Education, presided over the function as Chief Guest. Dr Hifzur Rahman, observer Indian schools, Embassy of India, was guest of honor. Siddik A Kalladka, chairman of managing committee, Dr Syed Raziur Rehman, vice chairman of managing committee, Dr. Shahid Karim, Sadiqullah, Dr. Uwes Ahmed, Santahna Gopalan, and M.s Minimol , MC members were also present. The program commenced with the Guard of Honor presented by the boy Scouts under Irshad, Imtiyas Alam, Ms Neelam Pal and Ms Anitha Shaji. The international students from various countries, Bunnies and Cubs accorded traditional welcome to the guests. Lt Col J. A. Rocque, principal, welcomed the gathering and presented the school report. The meritorious students in academics and sports were awarded with the certificates from the Ministry of Education and trophies from the school to appreciate their performances. Faizan Ali Khan and Junaid were the masters of ceremony under the guidance of Hafiz Afzal. Abdul Rouf and Taquir Rehman recited the verses from the Holy Qur'an to set off the proceedings. Al Hissan, in his address, praised the students, staff and parents for their role in running a disciplined institution and appreciated the efforts of the school in every field. Dr. Hifzur Rahman advised them to ensure that their wards are prepared for the competitive exams after plus two as competition is tough with many others in the fray. A gala variety entertainment was presented by the students, befitting the occasion. A Shakespearean drama – Julius Ceaser — was enacted by the students. The other programs were Scouts synchronized drill, patriotic songs, and a mime show on corruption. The school also inaugurated the sports complex in the school premises for students. Now the school proudly boasts of having two volleyball, one basketball and three badminton courts. The facilities have been created for four table tennis tables in the school. Other guests attending were Abdul Aziz Aba Al Khail, regional manager Bank Al Bilad and Ahmed, branch manager, Bank Al Bilad. Al Qunnus, Scout official from Saudi Scouts, Syed Shaukat, principal of International Indian School, Majmah, parents, staff and students. The vote of thanks was extended by Javed Hasan, vice principal of the school. — SG
