JEDDAH — Hafiz Abdullah Qureshi Al-Azhari, deputy vice chancellor of Jamia Nizamia and imam and khateeb of the historic Makkah Masjid passed away Tuesday in the south Indian city of Hyderabad, reports reaching here said. Al-Azhari was well known for his emotional sermons and the unique way of reciting the Holy Qur'an. All through his over 25 years as khateeb of the historic mosque, Al-Azhari's Friday sermons were appreciated by many scholars around the world. Al-Azhari performed five Haj pilgrimages as a guest of the Kingdom.
