RABIGH – Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region and adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, inaugurated on Wednesday 10 new academic buildings in the women's campus at King Abdulaziz University branch in Rabigh at a cost of SR200 million.
They include lecture halls and classrooms equipped with the latest technology. He also laid the foundation stone for the 400-bed university hospital, which is planned to serve 800 male and female students in future, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
Prince Khaled attended the graduation of the first and second batch from the Faculty of Medicine, met with the students and listened to their comments and questions.
In another occasion in Rabigh, Prince Khaled chaired the local council meeting in Rabigh governorate and listened to the comments and complaints of the citizens regarding the environmental pollution caused by some factories in Rabigh. Prince Khaled gave the factory owners and investors one year to solve the pollution problem, otherwise measures will be taken and penalties will be imposed.
During the local council meeting, Prince Khaled discussed the SR5 billion development projects in Rabigh.
In his meeting with the male and female students, he urged them to be proud of their religion and nation and to safeguard their values so as to counter the media campaign against the Kingdom.
Prince Khaled said they must stand up against anyone who tries to create sedition in the country of the two holy mosques by spreading lies and deceptions. He said the state strives to provide security, safety and comfort for the Saudi citizen in all fields.
Prince Khaled said the media campaigns against the Kingdom aim to create doubts among the citizens about their accomplishments. He called on all the citizens to have confidence in their accomplishments. What has been achieved in over 80 years in the Kingdom exceeds what has been accomplished by other countries in hundreds of years.
He said the governorate in Makkah Province has set up a center for facilitating procedures in government administrations in order to encourage investors to set up big projects that serve the nation.
Prince Khaled said investors should activate their role to carry out numerous projects that serve man, including the proposal by students to set up a sports city, develop the seafront in Rabigh and provide student transport.
He supported the idea to convert the university branch to a full
