Faisal, Emir of Makkah, started his tour Monday of Rabegh Governorate, his third consecutive year on such a visit, to check on the existing and planned development projects. This is an extension of his tours to the governorates and rural areas of the region to get acquainted with various projects and to listen to the observations and suggestions from citizens. In Rabegh, Prince Khaled is slated to launch a number of development projects and chair a meeting of the local council in the presence of the directors of government administrations. He plans to ensure that all hurdles facing projects are removed so that they can be completed speedily and on time. The previous visits by the Emir has seen much progress being made on a number of development initiatives worth more than SR700 million. These include those in education, health, municipal and electricity services. The Rabegh Local Council will present Prince Khaled on Monday with a list of all the projects under way. Prince Khaled will also check several other major projects serving citizens in the governorate. The Emir has earlier stated that the plan is to upgrade the region so that it compares favorably to the first world. This is the motto of the region's strategy, which outlines major projects for all the governorates. Prince Khaled will also follow-up on the opening of the Rabegh branch of King Abdulaziz University, which has buildings for the faculties of medicine, engineering, computers, information technology and sciences, the Business College, orientation year, university campus and university hospital. Prince Khaled will attend the graduation ceremony for the first batch of trainees from King Abdullah Economic City. This comprises 250 male and female trainees who completed training on the basics of labor marketing in collaboration with the Faculty of Business Administration. This is the first batch of 5,000 young men and women expected to be trained in different programs over the coming five years.
