Driver trapped in car rescued

A driver who had crashed his car into an electric pole had to be rescued when the pole fell on top of the vehicle, leaving him trapped inside. Abha Civil Defense said the car swerved off the main road knocking down a few palm trees and an electric pole in Al-Mansak District. The electric pole collapsed on top of the car leaving its driver trapped inside. Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
Six killed in fire

RIYADH — Six people died in a fire that broke out at the office of a well-known dairy. Riyadh Red Crescent spokesman Abdullah Al-Miraibidh said the Red Crescent said firefighters who rushed to the scene were able to extinguish the fire before it spread. Six bodies that were burned beyond recognition were found.
Mental patient
attempts suicide
TAIF — An expatriate attempted to commit suicide at the Mental Health Hospital here. Taif Health Affairs spokesman Siraj Al-Humaidan said a patient at the hospital tried to commit suicide in the bathroom. The patient, an African woman in her 30s, convinced hospital staff to let her take a shower in privacy. While she was in the bathroom, she attempted to hang herself by tying a piece of cloth to the showerhead. Hospital staff heard her struggling and broke into the bathroom as she was dangling from the showerhead. She was rushed to King Faisal Medical Complex where she remains hospitalized.
Makkah police arrest
6,000 in one month
MAKKAH — Police here arrested 6,000 suspected criminals during the past month. Makkah Police Director Col. Saeed Al-Qarni said the crimes they were accused of committing included theft, public disturbance, exploitation and operating a business without a license. Police also arrested illegal expatriates for violating labor laws.
10,490 illegal expats
rounded up in Jouf
SAKAKA — Police arrested 10,490 illegal expatriates during the past month. Al-Jouf Police spokesman Col. Turki Al-Muwaishir said the police ran field campaigns in all areas of the province. The arrested expatriates had expired residency permits or were working for someone other than their sponsor or in a job position different from the one listed on their residency permit. Meanwhile, police in Madinah arrested 69 illegal residents over the past week. Madinah Labor Office General Director Awad Al-Hazmy said the Ministry of Labor aims to protect the citizen, the consumer and the business owner.
450 traffic violations
in Qatif in two days
QATIF — The Traffic Department recorded a total of 450 traffic violations among drivers and motorcyclists in Qatif during the past two days. The department reported it seized 11 cars and seven motorcycles for multiple violations concerning road safety. The violators were mostly aged between 18 and 25 years.
