Late Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz has been named as recipient of this year's King Khaled Award for national achievement in promoting social services. This was announced at a press conference here Monday by Prince Faisal Bin Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Asir region, and Chairman of the King Khaled Charitable Foundation. The prize for the late Crown Prince Sultan is in recognition of his gigantic accomplishments in the field of charitable and humanitarian works. The prize money in this category is one million Saudi riyals. Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, will patronize a ceremony for honoring the winners of the award on Dec. 18. Prince Faisal said the achievements of late Prince Sultan in humanitarian and services fields are countless and have been witnessed throughout the Kingdom. Dr. Abdullah Bin Hussein Al-Khalifa will be given the King Khaled Award for Social Sciences; the Oun Center for the Handicapped in Makkah gets the prize in the social projects field; and the award in the responsible competitiveness category will be granted in partnership with the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) to the Company of Electricity and Water Utilities in Jubail and Yanbu, the National Company for Petrochemical Industries and the Dr. Suleiman Faqih Hospital. Prince Faisal said prize winners will receive certificates of appreciation, medals, and trophies. The awards were instituted in 2007.
