The Ministry of Health has spent SR50 million to upgrade medical and non-medical equipment at hospitals of the holy sites, the Saudi Press Agency reported Sunday. The expenditure is part of a plan to develop intensive care devices, secure 12 cooling devices for the treatment of sunstroke and secure 10 devices for intensive care units to treat cases of high temperature and heat-stress for Haj pilgrims. Salah Bin Fahad Al-Mazrooa, Advisor to the Minister of Health and General Supervisor of the Departments of Medical Supply and Equipment, said that endoscopes and 40 devices for dialysis were secured for hospitals of the holy sites. An amount of SR15 million has been disbursed to bring medical and non-medical supplies. He added that drugs and medical supplies have been provided to serve the pilgrims.
