The Phoenix Coyotes netted three goals in a three-minute blitz and survived a late fight-back to edge the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 Sunday. Boyd Gordon, Lauri Korpikoski and Keith Yandle netted consecutive goals to propel the Coyotes (3-3-1) 5-2 clear in the second period. Anaheim rallied in the third with a goal by Kurtis Foster and Ryan Getzlaf's second score at 18:52 briefly raised the Ducks' hopes of saving the game before the clock ran down. Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith finished with 29 saves and held firm in the final minute to secure the win. The Coyotes had managed just two goals in their previous two contests, but Martin Hanzal scored twice in the first period to give Phoenix a strong offensive start. “We had a couple bad games, but we made sure we were ready in this game,” Hanzal told reporters after recording his first two goals of the season. “We got a solid game from our goaltender and defense. It was a solid game for everyone.” Lubomir Visnovsky and Getzlaf converted goals for the Ducks (4-3-0) as the teams tied the first period 2-2. Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller had a tough night and was pulled for Dan Ellis after allowing five goals in 19 shots. Replacement Ellis saved all 16 shots he faced but still the Ducks fell to a second consecutive defeat after a four-game win streak. “We're not sharp with the puck right now,” said Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle. “We have to find a way to get back to where we were collectively as a group.”
