Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 12 - 2009

Jason Pominville scored with 9:05 left to complete the Buffalo Sabres' rally from a three-goal deficit to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in the NHL Tuesday.
Drew Stafford scored twice, first on a penalty shot, and added an assist on Paul Gaustad's goal. Patrick Lalime stopped all 27 shots he faced in relief of starter Ryan Miller, who was pulled after allowing three goals on 11 shots through 22 minutes.
Jordan Staal, Bill Guerin and Chris Kunitz scored for the Penguins, who squandered a three-goal lead for the first time since a 5-3 loss at Nashville last Jan. 8.
Ducks 4, Wild 2: At Anaheim, California, Bobby Ryan scored two goals and set up another for rookie Dan Sexton to lead Anaheim over Minnesota.
Jonas Hiller made 29 saves and Todd Marchant added a short-handed empty-netter with 10 seconds remaining for the Ducks, who played without center Ryan Getzlaf for the first time this season after he cut his right leg with his own skate during Saturday's loss at San Jose.
Antti Miettinen and Kim Johnsson scored for the Wild, who squandered a chance to set a team record with their 11th win this month. At 10-5 in December, they have one more opportunity to do it, on Thursday against at home against the Los Angeles Kings.
Coyotes 3, Canucks 2: At Glendale, Arizona, Jason LaBarbera made 28 saves and was perfect in the shootout to help Phoenix set a franchise record by winning their 10th straight home game with a victory over Vancouver.
Ed Jovanovski and Petr Prucha scored in regulation and Lauri Korpikoski had the lone goal of the shootout for the Coyotes, who surpassed the nine-game streak set by the Winnipeg Jets from Dec. 27, 1992 through Jan. 23, 1993.
Mikael Samuelsson and Kyle Wellwood scored for the Canucks, who became the last team in the league to record an overtime loss.
Islanders 2, Blue Jackets 1, SO: At Uniondale, New York, Rob Schremp scored the only goal in the shootout and Dwayne Roloson made 41 saves as the New York Islanders beat Columbus.
Josh Bailey scored his first goal in more than a month for the Islanders. R.J. Umberger's backhand goal with 10:13 left in regulation salvaged a point for the Blue Jackets, who are 2-13 in December and have lost 10 of 11.
Schremp, who has just one regulation goal in 18 games, beat Steve Mason off a forehand deke after Jeff Tambellini and Frans Nielsen shot wide.
Mason made 24 saves.
Predators 4, Blues 3: At St. Louis, Shea Weber assisted on three of Nashville's four straight goals in a win over St. Louis.
Marcel Goc, Patric Hornqvist, Joel Ward and J.P. Dumont all scored for the Predators, who are 24-6-3 against St. Louis since 2005-06.
The Blues, who got a goal and an assist from Alex Steen and goals from Carlo Colaiacovo and Andy McDonald, own the league's worst home record at 6-13-2. They've lost seven of their last eight at home.
Pekka Rinne stopped 24 shots for the Predators.
Stars 5, Blackhawks 4: At Dallas, Steve Ott had two goals, including a tiebreaking power-play tally early in the third period to help Dallas end Chicago's three
