AL-KHOBAR – In recent days, long queues of cars have stacked up at the Customs zone on both sides of the King Fahd Causeway, which links Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. No official information was provided about the number of travelers to Bahrain on the causeway during the past few days, though sources estimate that there were 100,000 during the first three days of Eid Al-Fitr. The second day registered the highest number of people, estimated at 40,000, who crossed into Bahrain, sources said. Two years ago, the third day of Eid Al-Adha registered a record figure of 66,000 travelers, Al-Hayat Arabic newspaper reported Sunday. Some travelers had to wait for several hours and some lost their patience, but an official said computer-related delays were brief. “Technical glitches in computer systems occur in every services institution, but we have a standby system and the technical problem is repaired immediately without disrupting traffic flow,” Fahd Badr Al-Etaishan, Director General of King Fahd Causeway Authority, said in a statement. __
