Fitr celebration in the Eastern Province this year is focused on community development and how people could contribute further in enhancing and developing their communities. The celebration is being spearheaded by the Asharqia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Officials of the chamber who met recently to lay down the agenda for the celebration said local businessmen, social workers, and economic planners will join their resources in achieving the goals of the celebration. Officials said the result of the collaboration between and among the businessmen, social workers, and economic planners will be used as guidelines in forthcoming development plans for the region. The chamber's Events Fund, which is set aside to support the celebration of major events in the region, will be increased through voluntary contributions of the private sector in order to fully support community activities, according to chamber officials. All the activities and ceremonies during the week-long Eid Al-Fitr celebration are supported and endorsed by Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of the Eastern Province and his deputy, Prince Jallawi Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Musaad. The centers of celebrations for families for one full week will be at Al-Rashid Mall, Al-Shatea Mall, Al-Qatif City Mall, Al-Othaim Mall in Dammam. The waterfront in Dammam will also showcase various entertainment programs starting at 8 P.M. They are bound to continue late into the night. Activities during this year Eid Al-Fitr celebrations are also aimed at deepening the involvement of the private sector in community activities and contribute to the expansion of tourism in the Eastern Province. __
