Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd, Emir of Eastern Province, will lead the Eid Al-Fitr celebration at the Corniche area in Al-Khobar and Dammam. The Emir will be joined by local government officials, prominent citizens and leading business leaders in marking the event which will be held on the first day of the Eid on Sept. 20. The celebration is jointly organized by the Eastern Province Tourism Council, the Asharqia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the local municipal councils of the cities of Dammam and Al-Khobar and local companies. “The festivities this year may not be as generous as in the previous years, but there will be plenty of activities, such as folkloric presentations, fireworks, individual shows by local companies in the tourism business, and even local hotels,” a spokesman of the Asharqia Chamber said. The Eastern Province Tourism Council has also organized cultural shows and pictorial presentations at malls in the region. During the opening day, there will be parades to be participated by schools, business organizations, and government agencies, according to the council. “The Eid holidays, which will run for four days, will be festive and the whole stretch of the Corniche area from the Half-Moon Beach up to the end of Qatif will be full of activities,” an official of the tourism council said. The waterfront of Dammam and Al-Khobar, including the Half-Moon area, will also be the sites of many festivities during the Eid. The seafront bordering Dammam and Al-Khobar has been spruced with huge decorations, in addition to the many amenities that have been constructed within the seafront stretch. The government has spent SR50 million to develop the seafront. The improvement of another 30 km of seafront from Qatif to Anak, Saihat and Tarut is now under progress.
