As customarily done every year during the holy month of Ramadan, businessmen in Eastern Province will be visiting sick citizens confined in various hospitals in the region during the period of the Eid to provide comfort and felicitation and offer gifts. A committee of the Asharqia Chamber in the Eastern Province, called the Patients' Friends, is organizing the visits. “The objectives of the visits are to inquire about the conditions of the patients, find out how local businessmen can provide support to them, and hold dialogues with the local hospitals on how to improve their services,” said Adnan Al-Nueim, secretary general of the Asharqia Chamber. The annual visit to the sick citizens is part of the social responsibility and charitable work of the chamber and the local business community, according to Al-Nueim. Among the hospitals to be visited are the Dammam Medical Complex at the Dammam Central Hospital, Dhahran General Hospital, Al-Qatif Central Hospital, King Fahd University Hospital in Al-Khobar, Al-Amal Hospital, and the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Dammam. As preparation to the visits, the committee of the Patients Friends' Committee will meet on Sept. 9 at the Al-Gosaibi Hall of the chamber to discuss the programs during the visitation. The meeting will be chaired by Prince Jalawi Bin Abdul-Aziz Bin Musa'ed, Deputy Emir of Eastern Province, the honorary vice chairman of the Friend's Committee. The Patients Friends' Committee has been an effective platform of local businessmen in extending their social responsibility and commitment to the community.
