Customs officials at the Jeddah Islamic Port blocked the entry of large quantities of children's toys with excessive amounts of lead. Sulaiman Al-Twaijri, Director General of the Customs Department, said inspectors tested a consignment of 53,000 children's toys and found that their levels of lead exceeded the permissible limits. In another incident, officials at the Al-Batha border post foiled an attempt to smuggle 568 bottles of liquor hidden in a car, Al-Twaijiri said.
