Crown Blues defeated the promising United Cricket Club by 7 wickets in the final of the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) Summer Afternoon League here. United CC, which won the toss, started disastrously with both the openers departing cheaply. However, Shahnawaz played some sensible cricket to rally the team by topscoring with 61 in 48 balls. Nauman made 20 to get to 160 for 9 in the allotted overs as other batsmen failed to cross the double digit mark. Fahad grabbed 3 for 49 as Murtuza, Imran, Salim and Anwaar took one wicket each to keep the opponents to this moderate total. Crown Blues, chasing 161 to win, also suffered two early jolts to be 29 for 2. But Fahad made 41 in 29 balls and Hasanat scored 79 in 39 balls with 5 sixes and 8 fours to add 91 runs for the third wicket. Ultimately Hasanat hit the winning stroke to get to the goal of 161 for 3 to win the cup. Sarfaraz took 2-27 and Nauman got one wicket.
